The Potter’s Clay Bible Study

Sunday mornings, 10:45-11:45am

Teachers: Deb Skirnski and Rhonda Wiley

Room 164 in the adult wing

Do you believe that the Bible is God’s Word?  Do you believe that God’s Word is truth?  Immerse yourself in His truth and get to know and trust God.  The focus of The Potter’s Clay Bible study class is to:

  • Germinate a spirit of gratitude and thanksgiving so that we can live to honor and praise our Heavenly Father.

  • Not just hearing the Word but allowing it to shape us and define who we are.

  • Allowing God’s word to motivate us to do His work by using and sharing the gifts he has given us.

  • And to help us to seek out and enjoy fellowship and outreach beyond our own circle of comfort.

The group is currently studying The Book of Ephesians by J.D. Greear. This video-based study from Right Now Media encourages believers to live well - we've been lifted from the graveyard of sin and called to shout the gospel into the darkened world. Anyone interested is invited to join this new Bible study opportunity. Join us as we open our lives to be molded by God’s Word! This group is continuously open to new people attending, feel free to join at any time or drop-in as your schedule allows. Come and revive, refresh, renew your faith!  For more information contact Lori at lorib@christmemorial.org or 796-3361.

With our Wednesday Morning WOW offering you’ll be connecting with a delightful group of women who love to study, seeking personal transformation and growth in their walk with God.  This Fall Wednesday Morning WOW will be using Priscilla Shirer’s study guide, Elijah - Faith and Fire. Elijah emerged as the voice of unapologetic truth during a time of national crisis and moral decline. His ministry was marked by tenacious faith and holy fire - the same kind you will need in order to remain steadfast in current culture.  We will take a fresh look at Elijah and the difficult choices of obedience that kept him anchored, sharpened his faith, broadened his impact, and invited heaven’s fire to fall.  This study will help us to: acquire a boldness that can stand firm, even when standing alone / anticipate God’s faithful guidance and provision at each stage of our journey / welcome stillness, obscurity, and hardship as vital training for the tasks ahead / seize opportunities to encourage others off the fence of spiritual indifference / and aspire to a willing, consecrated life that invites the fire of God’s Spirit. Do you want to go beyond learning to experiencing? Are you looking for what Priscilla calls “A renewed faith. A fresh fire”? Then join us.  Women of all ages are invited!

Beginning September 8, and alternating each week thereafter, Wednesday Morning WOW participants will gather as one large group to watch Priscilla's teaching video before breaking into discussion groups. Alternate weeks participants will meet in the group setting they have chosen (see above group options) to discuss personal homework for this study.  For more information contact Lori at lorib@christmemorial.org or 796-3361.

Faithfulness Circle

Bible study for women

Monthly, third Thursday, 9:30-11am

Meets September - May

Coordinators:  Millie Snyder and Wilma Winkels

Teacher:  Tam Velderman

Room 169 in the adult wing

“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful” Psalm 1:1.

“Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD” Psalm 150:6.

Those are the first and the last verses of the Book of Psalms, and in between are words of worship and praise, of repentance, and of thankfulness that portray the span of attitude and emotion that the various authors: David, Solomon, Moses and others, wanted to convey through the words of these much-loved and often-memorized poems divided into five sections. We’ll take a look at selected Psalms, and also at the songs we now sing that encompass their words. From Psalm 1 - Psalter Hymnal #1 (1912) that we might have learned in our early elementary days, to Psalm 23 - “Gentle Shepherd” by Bill and Gloria Gaither (1974), we’ll open our Bibles and also the hymnals as we review and learn anew the familiar words. Join us this fall for Psalms & Songs ~ Petitions & Praise.
